7.25 Work Day at the Little Chute House
Posted by candice on July 25th, 2014
Thank you to Jim, Mike, John, and Terry for your talented help today!
What we accomplished:
Sub-floor up off of landing and bathroom
Carpet pulled out of living room
Nails out of landing
Nails out of all ceilings upstairs
Kitchen floor covered with super top secret adhesive removal product
Switch boxes removed from all rooms
Fresh board down on all floors upstairs to save them from damage during rest of renovation
New floor joists and new wood secured at back entry way
Plumbing estimate received, second estimate is being written up
The house looks and feels completely different than when we started. Having the carpets and suspended ceilings removed does amazing things to a room. And having a front door ….. means more than I can describe.
I am actually grateful that we did not have the money sitting in the bank to completely hire out this project. Working with the volunteers, and hearing their stories, and recognizing why they want to help out like this, has been a gift that I did not expect.
One volunteer whom has given 2 days so far, could not help out today, but he stopped by to see progress. How cool is that?!?!?
And little did I know that I enjoyed pulling nails as much as I do. Give me whatever tool Terry gave me – couldn’t tell you what it is called, but he said they use it to take the nails out of horse shoes – and I can get almost any nail out of the floor. I enjoy it so much that when I was eating lunch and found out that the guys finished up pulling the nails on the landing, I was actually disappointed! Who knew!!!
