Interpretive Master Plan Update: What is your vision for the Parkway?
Posted by helen on November 29th, 2011
This is an update on the progress of the Interpretive Master Plan by Interpretive Solutions (IS). IS was hired by the Parkway in July 2011 to prepare this plan, required for National Heritage Area designation by the National Park Service.
The Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway has some of the most creative stakeholders to be found! In mid-November we invited a number of people who have a stake in the success of the Parkway to join us at listening sessions in Appleton, Berlin and Mazomanie to hear their visions for the future of the Parkway.
We received several great ideas from community members, such as a steamboat visitor center, making recreational opportunities accessible to people of all abilities throughout the Parkway, beautification of the riverfront using community murals, and many more! The best of these ideas will rise to the top as the Interpretive Master Plan recommendations are developed next spring.
If you were not able to make it to the meetings, we still want to hear from you!
What is your vision for the Parkway? What is your favorite thing to see or do on the Fox-Wisconsin waterway? What is the first place your take your out-of-town guests to? What essential stories of these rivers must never be lost? We want to hear from you!
Here are two ways to share your vision:
- Take our short, 4 questions survey to tell us what you would like to see for the Parkway.
- Join us early next winter at public meetings in Prairie du Chien, Portage, and Green Bay to share your ideas over a cup of hot chocolate. Watch for notices about meeting places and times on our website and Facebook as well as in your community and local media.
You have the power to shape the future of the Parkway. The entire Interpretive Master Plan team looks forward to hearing your ideas – so bring ‘em on!
