You’re Invited: FWHP Stakeholders Meetings
Posted by helen on October 31st, 2011
An invitation for you…
Dear Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway Stakeholder:
The Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway is committed to preserving and promoting the natural, recreational, and historic resources within the Fox and Wisconsin River corridor and creating additional opportunities for historic interpretation, education, recreation, and tourism. This exciting endeavor will serve to enhance outdoor recreation across the state of Wisconsin, educate our citizens on our rich history, and increase pride and ownership of place, as well as help revitalize our small and mid-size communities along the river’s edge.
The Parkway is currently preparing to develop an Interpretive Master Plan. The plan builds on years of effort by community members to create the Parkway, and represents an exciting step toward designation as a National Heritage Area. The plan will describe the Parkway’s interpretive programs and services – the ways in which the Parkway’s stories will be told — over the next 5-7 years. It will serve as a long-range blueprint for the program.
This long-range plan requires the participation of a variety of stakeholders like you, and cannot be accomplished solely by the Parkway itself. This effort needs to involve our neighbors, supporters, partners, and friends who know and are located within the Parkway; and so we are inviting you to participate in an evening workshop that will lay the foundation for this plan. With facilitation led by our planning consultant Interpretive Solutions, Inc,. we will be discussing the significance of the Parkway, how best to facilitate visitor exploration of that significance, and visitor expectations of the interpretation and education programs.
Please join us as a workshop participant at the location within your river segment — Lower Wisconsin, Upper Fox, Lower Fox — if possible. If you cannot attend your segment, please try for another or designate a representative.
