Little Chute 6/29/14 Update
Posted by Gary Haas on June 29th, 2014
Inch by inch …..
We are running power to the house this week with a new panel and a few
20 amp plugs for construction. This external work is covered by the Fox River Navigational System Authority (all external costs they cover as owner of the property, and we cover all internal costs as lessee.)
Half of the original windows have been stripped and are ready for refinishing.(Does anyone know anyone who loves to do refinishing?)
We plan to start the tear down of the back entry floor and paneling and start reframing a new floor and landing in that space this Friday. (We need an experienced carpenter to help frame the floor.)
We will then be removing carpet and kitchen floor as well as removing one closet added in the recent past. (We will be asking for help with this soon as well.)
We have estimates from our heating and plumbing contractor. We can possibly reuse the radiators, after testing, but will need a new boiler and hot water heater.(does anyone have a connection?)
Faith Technologies has donated 80 hours of labor to replace the wiring in the house, hopefully that will about cover what is needed. We do have funds to cover the materials for electric work.
Thank you so much for your interest and enthusiasm! We get quite a few emails expressing how cool it is to see this historic house come to life again!
And as always, thank you for your help. This is a community project first and foremost and it is happening because of you!
